The doula sessions offer free, specialised and culturally sensitive support to reduce the health inequalities that Black women face during pregnancy and childbirth in the UK.
Postnatal Doula + Breastfeeding Counsellor
Anna Horn is a London based postnatal doula and breastfeeding counsellor with over
half a decade of experience in the maternal and child health field, ranging from national
surveillance on pregnant women living with HIV to frontline work on a busy NHS infant
feeding team. Additionally, Anna works to provide service user perspective for both the
National Transformation Programme (MTP) and Midwifery Unit Network (MUNet),
particularly on topics impacting Black, Asian and minority ethnic women and birthing
In October 2020, Anna was awarded a doctoral studentship at City, University
of London, where she is carrying out research on group antenatal care in the UK and
South Africa. Outside of her work supporting families and research, Anna Horn is a wife
and mother of a dynamic preschooler and two cats - Gaia and Calypso.
Natasha Smith is the founder of Eden’s Script. She left working in education after the birth of her first son to pursuit a career in holistic health.
She initially studied nutritional therapy and delivered community health and cooking demonstrations. Natasha subsequently went on to train as a Doula, Mizan practitioner and Baby Massage Instructor. She has a special interest in Abolitionist and Postcolonial literature and has studied both at Post Graduate level in relation to Black women’s lives.
Natasha has worked closely with various organisations to deliver training including the NHS and is also Director of The Women’s Health and Maternal Well-being Initiative C.I.C. She has also recently been appointed as a Trustee for the U.K. arm of the global charity White Ribbon Alliance.
